Before you visit
What to expect
A first massage is mostly unknowns. These are the answers.
Booking
Asking for a time
Bookings run through Fresha at the moment. Live availability and instant confirmation are both there.
- Choose
- Open the booking page and pick the treatment and the length. The times shown are live.
- Confirm
- Fresha confirms straight away and sends you a reminder before the day.
- Or ring
- If the time you want is not there, ring the studio. Some gaps are easier to arrange by voice than by calendar.
On the day
Arriving
This is a home studio in a quiet street, not a clinic on a shopping strip. It is calmer, and it takes a minute longer to find the first time.
- Come a little early
- Five minutes is enough. It is time to take your shoes off and stop moving, which is most of what makes the first ten minutes work.
- Parking
- There is off-street parking. Use the driveway rather than the verge — it is a residential street and the neighbours use it.
- If you are running late
- Ring rather than hurry. The appointment after yours belongs to somebody else, so a late start is usually a shorter treatment, and it is better to know that before you are on the table.
During
The treatment itself
Everything is adjustable, and none of it is a test you can fail. Say what you want and it changes.
- Pressure
- Say if it is too much, or not enough. Massage should not be something you endure quietly — pressure that hurts makes the muscle guard, which is the opposite of the point.
- What to wear
- Undress to whatever you are comfortable in. You are covered by a towel throughout and only the area being worked on is uncovered.
- Talking
- Or not. Some people talk the whole hour and some fall asleep. Both are normal and neither is rude.
Before you book
Things worth mentioning
None of these mean no. They change how the treatment is done, which is why they are better said early than discovered on the table.
- Pregnancy
- Say so when you book, including early pregnancy. Position and pressure both change, and the first trimester changes them most.
- Injuries and recent surgery
- A healing injury, a recent operation, anything still bruised. The area gets worked around rather than avoided by surprise.
- Medical conditions
- Blood pressure, circulation, skin conditions, anything you take blood thinners for. If you are unsure whether it matters, mention it — it takes a sentence.
Plans change
Changing or cancelling
Ring the studio. One therapist means one diary, and an empty hour nobody knew about cannot be given to anybody else.
Give as much notice as you can, and ring rather than message — a voice reaches the diary faster than an inbox does.

Ask before you book
If you are not certain which treatment you want, or whether it suits you, ring and describe what is bothering you. It is a shorter conversation than reading a list.
Paying
You pay at the studio, at the end. Nothing is taken when you book.
